Youth Mentorship
Mentorship is quickly becoming the most effective way to help preteens and teens stay in school and deal with family problems - offering guidance and support as they make the challenging transition from child to young adult.
PCCI offers:
- Individual mentorship provided by trained, screened mentors
- Group, gender-specific mentorship facilitated by trained, screened mentors
- Mentorship “circles” at designated schools
- Access to Mentorship Training
PCCI now offers bi-lingual individual and group mentorship.
With individual mentoring a child is paired with an adult of the same gender who spends one or more hours per week engaged in activities that help the child acquire new skills and have fun or just talk. With circle mentoring, two adults facilitate a group of youth once per week (usually on campus). The youth have a safe place and a chance to talk about issues such as feelings, self esteem and fitting in.
If you are interested in qualifying as a mentor or in finding a mentor for your child, or if you would like your children’s school to provide “mentorship circles,” please call Phoenix Counseling Center at (541) 535-4133.
